What’s a storytelling photographer anyways?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never scrolled past a perfectly posed photo in my feed and stopped to remember how it felt.

As a photographer, my job is to immortalize moments of your life, to capture the butterflies, to document the beautiful wildness you get to experience, whether that’s wild passion you feel for your partner, feral toddlers, emotional newborns or over-caffienated mamas.

Do we want to remember all of those things as they really happened? Yes and no.

That, my friend, is where the lifestyle documentary photographer comes in.

You help set the scene - whether we’re out in nature, photographing in the comfort of your home, at a coffee shop or in a cozy studio - together we’ll select an authentic, memorable activity. I’ll give you guys just enough direction to get you started, and we’ll wait for the magic to unfold.

We want as much natural interaction as possible, but remembered in the prettiest way possible, so when you scroll or flick through your gallery later you’ll have real memories to go along with the pretty pictures.

I love capturing real moments. The more authentic, the more beautiful.

Storytelling photography that focuses on you, your story, and your moments involves a lot less direction than traditional portrait photography, so while I’ll still be prompting you and hyping you up, I likely won’t be hyper focused on where your hands are placed or telling your kiddos to sit still. The goal is real smiles, real laughter, real memories.

Hi, I’m Stacey.

I’l be learning a little about your story, so here’s a little bit of mine to even the playing field.

First off… I am a mom! It’s not my definition, but it is my favorite way to describe myself. Photographer is a close second.

I have two fur babies, one rainbow baby, one angel baby and a newborn, so I’m familiar with how terrified you might be feeling as a brand new parent and how much anxiety you probably wish you didn’t have during your pregnancy.

My professional photography journey started in sunny, Southern California, but my family have since relocated back to Fort Worth, Texas where my husband and I met and fell in love.

I was born and raised in Ireland so traveling all over is nothing new for me and has been a big part of my life for the last 10-15 years. In 2024 I photographed in Utah, North Carolina, Oregon and Washington as well as Texas and California. (We almost made it to Florida, too, but had to postpone a few times) I love any excuse to travel, so hit me up for a destination wedding anytime.

I am the biggest “spontaneous adventure” person I know, which has resulted in a 42 hour road trip in a snow storm, moving continents 3 times, dropping out of college (I guess we can just call the whole college experience spontaneous now, since it didn’t last very long), two impulse decision dogs and lots of last minute sessions waist deep in the ocean in December. Basically, I’m telling you I’ll be pumped for the adventure, whatever it is and I’ll be there early, coffee in hand, with some for you, too, if you send me your order, and I’ll have ideas about how to make your session amazing!

I’ve been playing with cameras since I was a kid. I really started focusing on my love for photography right after ending my formal education journey in 2017 and haven’t ever regretted dropping out. I found where I’m meant to be.
